Performance by La Fuchsia Kollektiva
Patacónes, flat, deep-fried plantains are arranged like a pre-Columbian gold sculpture from the Gold Museum.
African slaves brought the plantain to Latin America.
The preparation is accompanied by the sound of the voices of Patacon sales assistants.
There will be information on modern cultivation and global commercialization of plantains. The installation stimulates the senses of the visitors, invites them to enjoy, but also to reflect. The “exotic” dish, which looks like gold, is a symbol of plunder, racism and globalization.
